33 Weeks and a Nursery Diaries Update

Well, I was stalling my post this week waiting for photos from my first shower, but my sister hasn't sent them to me yet, so we'll talk about the nursery instead and I'll make a seperate post for shower fun. :)
33 weeks- and it's March!!! That means I can officially say I'm having a baby "next month." I'm so excited!! Part of me is really scared, but it's a pretty small part. Most of me is jumping up and down with anticipation of Evie being here with us. And now that her room is really coming together, I feel a lot more "ready." What can I say- I'm a planner and an organizer, I feel better when everything is in it's place.
I go to the doctor's this morning, hopefully my blood pressure is okay. I've been having a really hard time in the mornings with my hands and wrists (especially my left) being asleep and then being generally in pain for a few hours after I wake up. I'm guessing it's probably pregnancy carpal tunnel- sometimes I can't even open the milk carton it hurts so bad! Thankfully it goes away, and it only happens in the morning, but I'm going to mention it at the docs. Otherwise I've been feeling pretty good. I can tell I'm "nesting" because I definitely have more energy than usual, at least when it comes to taking care of things for Evie. Shall we take a tour of the latest nursery updates?
We moved the crib the other side of the window- I didn't want to at first, but the dresser couldn't go where I wanted it (blocking a cold air return) so we had to rearrange. I like it now though- when you come up the stairs it's the first thing you see in her room and I like that. :)
This is the corner where the crib used to be- it now houses the cubical storage unit I put together yesterday. There's the corner of the dresser we found- thanks to my Aunt Ann who sent me the craigslist link! It should work quite nicely, the drawers are nice and big, and the top is plenty long for a changing pad, plus room for a basket of supplies. We're going to replace the handles with pretty ones- and we might put legs or a platform underneath to pick it up a bit. It's kind of short, but we're going to see how it goes and decide about that later.
Close up of the storage unit- this is NOT the finished product obviously. This would make me nuts if it looked like this!! We're going to get the matching fabric storage cubes in red and black (at least 4 of them) to store the cloth diapers and other things in, then use the other spaces as more decoration. Notice the adorable red and black suitcase- my sis got that as part of our shower gift and it is really cute!! Also notice our growing stash of cloth diapers on the bottom- I'm SO excited to use them! And that's more baby laundry to the right... please ignore. ;)
Just had to show you the "newborn" drawer- her teeny tiny clothes!! I washed everything we have yesterday up to 9 months. I know we'll get more this weekend at the family shower, but I wanted to do it in batches. Also, I know I might have to rearrange the drawers when we get more clothes, but it just made me happy to put things away. 0-3 month clothes make me all teary-eyed and happy. :)
Oh yea, and here's me! It was about 11 o'clock at night after a long day of getting Evie's room set up- and we still have a ways to go! I haven't started any of my decor projects, and we still need to get the rocking chair and bookcase, and do something with the closet. But for now, this has been the longest blog post ever, so I'll leave you. If you're still reading- thanks. :) Shower pics to come!

The Nursery Diaries: The Crib

The crib is officially up!! I was going to wait for Eric to have time to put the crib together, but he's been working really hard lately. And yesterday my friend Jen (who's also pregnant, about a month behind me) came over and talked me into putting the crib together the two of us. :) It was actually way easier than I thought it would be- and I'm so proud that we did it! Piece of cake for two girls in their third trimester. ;) Here's a closeup of the bedding we ordered from Etsy- I love the way it turned out. It's so cute without being really cartoon-y. I plan to make a cornice for the window in black and white gingham to match the crib skirt.

So that's step one of many to get Evie's room ready. The first of our two showers is this Sunday, so I'm sure her room will be packed full of stuff next week. :) I'll keep you all posted on the progress in here!

32 Weeks: AKA 2 Months Left

My due date is in eight weeks- oh man. :) I feel ready and not ready at the same time. I'm definitely at the point where I'm done being pregnant- I feel huge, my feet hurt, my hips hurt, blah blah blah. Sorry, you all probably get sick of reading the same thing every week right? I'll move on from the complaints. :) Oh! But I have to tell you- my wedding rings are officially off. I didn't want to do it, but I don't want my band to be cut so I had to. I'm wearing a cheapy ring with a heart and little stone- it's cheesy but it'll do!
On the other hand I don't feel ready because we haven't had our showers yet, so we don't have many of the things we need to be ready for Evie's arrival. The crib is here, but it's not set up yet, and her room is still very empty. After our showers (this and next weekend) I'm going to do laundry to wash all of her clothes- and the cloth diapers! They all need to be prepped. Also we can start putting her room together then, which I'm really excited about.
The house is coming together as well, we got a lot done this past weekend and my to-do list is getting smaller thank goodness. In March, I want to have a big cooking day so that I can make a bunch of freezer meals to store. Then we can have home-cooked meals after Evie arrives and I don't have to cook them! Also, we've been looking for a little chest freezer on craigslist to keep in the basement to store things like the freezer meals and in the future, baby food.
One last thing... is spring here yet?? I'm so sick of freezing temps and snow!!

31 Weeks: Single Digit Countdown

Yes, we now have nine weeks left until my due date. NINE weeks. Forgive me while I jump up and down with joy and also hyperventilate into a bag. It's a mixed bag of emotions over here. ;) I can't believe time has flown by so fast- we can't wait to meet our baby girl. Well, after she's a little bigger and her room is ready anyway.
Went to the doctor's today- all is well, although my blood pressure was a bit high so they're going to keep an eye on it and I'm going to start coming in every two weeks now. Nothing too serious though. I'm measuring right on track and still doing well for weight gain, so yay for that. And Evie's heartrate was in the 140's, so normal and good. I'm feeling pretty good, just tired and serious feet pain. I'm not feeling very photogenic lately, as pregnancy has done my skin no favors in the acne department and I'm starting to feel a little like a blimp. :/ But, I started this project with a photo every week- so I'm determined to see it through!!
The new house is coming along nicely, we still have work to do, but it's starting to feel like home and we're really loving it. :) I can't wait until I'm done with work in two weeks- then I'm going to go full force into getting Evie's room ready!! I took some photos to share of the new place- forgive some of the mess, not everything has found a place yet. And of course, we may still rearrange things. And Eric needs to start hanging up pictures- but he's been working really hard lately, and he did do the curtains, so I'm doing my best to be patient and wait. ;)

View of the kitchen from the dining room- to the right is the door to the garage, the basement door, and then the hallway that leads to the half a bath and front door.
Dining room- eventually there will be a photo gallery on that wall, with black photo frames filled with pictures of our family. I can't wait. :) To the left are the glass doors out to our little deck.
Living room- if you turn around from the dining room, you'll see this. We want to get a full size couch to replace one of the loveseats, which will then be moved to the loft space. Mirrors and paintings will be on the wall shortly.
View of the living room looking down from the loft, you can see the banister from the stairs at the bottom of the photo.

Here's Eric (being silly) in the loft space. It's going to be our office/den. The loveseat will eventually go where the boxes are- I'm ready to get rid of the empty boxes! The cardboards will be gone Thursday, then we just have to return the bins to our friends that we borrowed them from. You can see the computer a little bit on the left, that's where the desk is.

I left out photos of the two bathrooms (not much to see), master bedroom (messy!), and Evie's room, because it's empty and there's no light in there. I'll keep you all posted on progress, but that's all for now!

30 Weeks: Chaos!!

Right now, I'm sitting on the floor of our old apartment with my laptop, with just a few random things scattered around me. Why? Because we haven't switched our internet service to the new place yet, so the modem is still plugged in and working here. It was just one of the things that got pushed to side in the chaos of moving- ahh! :) So this is clearly more than a day late (sorry Jen!), but it's the best I've got this week friends.
That's me up there, 30 weeks pregnant, trying not to lose my mind as I set up our new place. I love love LOVE it, it's so much room and it's really great for us. I'm just really tired. Also, my feet hurt. But I love it, I promise.
In other pregnancy news, I'm going to go ahead and assume that I don't have gestational diabetes, since my 3 hour test was last Friday, and they say "no news is good news" and it only takes a couple days to process. So it's been almost a week- no GD for me then right? Let's celebrate with some ice cream- woohoo!!! ;)
Speaking of the 3 hour test, oh my WORD it was horrible. Awful. The most unpleasant experience ever. Okay maybe not ever. But it was pretty bad. The drink was ten times worse than the 1 hour stuff, I felt like I was going to vomit for the enitre 3 hours, they take your blood FOUR times while you're there, and I was starving by the end. Yuck. So glad it's over, and yes I know it's worth it to make sure I don't have GD, blah blah blah- but I'm still allowed to complain!
This Saturday is our childbirth class, that we're taking at my OB office because we heard the Mercy class is terrible. I'm really excited for it, mostly for Eric. I think I've got a pretty good handle on what I'm about to do (logically I mean- I know that emotionally you never get it until you do it)- but Eric is still a little fuzzy on the details. ;) Should be fun- I'll let ya know!

Moving Update

We're in the new place!! :) It's wonderful and we love it, but I'm a little overwhelmed and very exhausted. We don't have internet hooked up yet (I'm blogging from my sister Allison's house getting ready for her superbowl party), so my weekly post will probably be a day late again this week. But I'll be sure to take my photo tomorrow- along with some photos of the new place! Hope you're all having a great weekend- enjoy the superbowl!

29 Weeks: Moving Week

A day late again- this is becoming a habit. Last night was a mess of things to do, dinner with my aunts and cousins, and a bit of a family emergency as one of my aunts was rushed to the hospital. She's having her gall bladder removed today- so lots of thoughts and prayers to Aunt Bev and her family!! I apologize for the post delay, it just wasn't going to happen yesterday.
Anywho, it's moving week!! So forgive me for not waxing on about pregnancy this week- I'm already exhausted and I'm a little preoccupied. ;) We are very very VERY excited to move into the new place and get settled. I'll be sure to share some photos of all the fun spaces we have to fill- I don't know what I'm going to put in a place this big! But I'm sure I'll figure it out...
Other than being tired, I'm doing well. My 3-hour glucose tolerance test is Friday morning- fingers crossed that I pass and don't have gestational diabetes, because I've never been very good at controlling my diet when there's ice cream to be eaten. We'll see I guess! I'm trying not to stress too much- hah! Easier said than done. ;)
I don't like my photo much this week... I'm struggling with self-image as my body gets bigger and my skin continues to torture me. Pregnancy has done me no favors in the acne department, so much for that hope. Oh well, it's all worth it in the end!!!
