28 Weeks: Do. Not. Panic.

That's what I keep telling myself.... as we pack up our apartment, try to get organized, and plan to move in two weeks. I'll admit, the hormones get the better of me every other day or so and I freak out. :) But really, we can do this. We don't have that much stuff, it's not a big deal. Just breathe Liane.
Moving when pregnant = probably not the best of ideas. But- it must be done!! And I really am excited for the new place, it's so much more space and it's perfect. :)
I'm feeling... very pregnant lately. At my last OB visit, I met the other midwife at the practice (whom I loved!), and she said to me "it's time to start acting pregnant now!" No more lifting without thinking, rest whenever I can, put my feet up (I'm determined to avoid swelling as much as I can), and "no crawling underneath the bed to get dust bunnies, because you'll get stuck." Hah- little does she know I haven't crawled under the bed to get dust bunnies- ever. ;) I'm definitely getting worn out faster, and I get sore faster too. But it's hard to remember to rest when I'm trying to pack!
All is well according to my last doc's appointment- weight gain is on track, Evie's heartrate was 158, and I'm measuring on track as well. Oh, one piece of bad news though- I failed the 1 hour glucose tolerance test!! :( :( Booooo. I failed by a really small amount, so it's unlikely that I actually have gestional diabetes (so they said at the office), but I have to go take the 3 hour test next week. Booooo again. Now I'm nervous about fainting all over again, because it's longer to go without food. But my wonderful mom is going to take the morning off and take me so I don't have to drive or anything. So fingers crossed I pass this one- I've never been one to fail tests. ;)
My shower invites should be going out this week- woohoo!! I'm excited, it's definitely something fun to look forward to after the chaos of moving. Big thank yous to my mom, my sister Allison, and my sister-in-law Tammy for throwing my showers- they're going to be fabulous!
Also, apologies for my day-late post- yesterday was one of those aforementioned freak-outs where my hormones get the better of me, and I wasn't in the mood for a photo shoot. So I postponed- forgive me? ;)
Now I leave you with the bump- we had to relocate our photo this week because of boxes, and as you can see there used to be artwork on the wall behind me, so excuse the hooks. Week 30's photo *should* be taken in the new place- yay!!

27 Weeks: The Beginning of the End

Today I am officially in the third trimester!!! It's all downhill from here, and I can't wait! :) I'm getting so anxious to meet our little ladybug and become a family of three. And I'm excited for all the things to come in the next 3ish months- my baby showers, setting up Evie's nursery, washing all of her little clothes and diapers and getting everything set up.
Oh- and moving to our new place!!! Yes, we found a fantastic duplex in OP that we'll be moving into next month and we're SO pleased with our decision. It has everything we were looking for (garage, basement with laundry hook ups, dining room, 2 bedrooms) plus even more! It has a balth and a half, an extra loft-type room that overlooks the living room, a deck, and a great backyard. It's perfect and we can't wait to be there. And I'm SO happy to have a room to start getting things ready for Evie. Bring on the ladybug nursery- I'm so ready to decorate!!
In other news, my glucose test wasn't as terrible as I thought it would be, although it was pretty hard not to eat for that long. :) But I didn't faint or throw up, and I should get the results this week. I also have a doctor's appt. this week, on Friday, so we'll get an update on measurements, heartrate, and my weight (eek!).
I'm definitely starting to feel more uncomfortable all of the sudden- my sciatic hip pain is happening more often, and my feet hurt a lot. Sleeping has become a challenge, I toss and turn and am really restless. Some of my pregnant friends and I have joked about "the 3-point turn" when we want to roll over in bed- it takes so much effort now just to roll over!! It's so nice to have friends who are experiencing the same things with you though, I think it's making my pregnancy even more enjoyable to share it with so many friends. :)
Also, I am battling off a head cold the last two days- I refuse to give in!!! I hope it doesn't fully kick in, I really don't have time to be sick. Right now it's a dull headache and a stuffy nose- I'm taking tons of Vitamin C and trying to rest a ton so maybe it'll just go away. However, forgive my somewhat blah appearance in this week's photo- I'm going to blame it on the cold and lack of sleep. Man that belly's getting big! ;)

26 Weeks: On the Move

We're on the move in more ways than one friends. For one- Evie is moving all over the place!! She's getting stronger, and Eric felt her for the first time last weekend which was really exciting. Since then we've been sharing the wealth and my parents and Allison have felt her too. And I've figured out that Evie likes cookies already- they get her moving like nothing else. ;)
In other moving news, our lease is up March 1st, so Eric and I are making decisions about what to do and where to go. We'd love to just move to a house and be done with it, but it's not that easy (or quick)- so we're looking at houses, checking for apartments, and contemplating staying here for a few months as well. We're basically considering every option at this point, and we should know where we'll be within a couple weeks. House hunting started this evening with a bang- and by bang I mean, that house needs to be blown up with dynamite BANG! But, oh well, you've got to start somewhere. And, we love having fun stories about house hunting.
Back to pregnancy news... I scheduled my glucose tolerance test! It's this Friday at 11:50 am and I'm nervous!! I'm sure it will be fine, and I'll tell you all about it next week. I've been feeling really good lately- the heartburn is there but I can deal, and my hips hurt on and off- but overall things are good. We're coming up on the third trimester, so we'll see how long this lasts. ;) Here's my 26 week bump, enjoy!

Double Digits

Today marks 99 days until my due date- we're in the double digits! :) Everything is feeling more and more real now. I'm off to a baby shower for my friend Alyssa, who's due at the end of February with a baby girl. Hope everyone's having a good weekend!

25 Weeks: I'm having a baby THIS YEAR!

Yea that's right- 2011 is the year of the baby. :) I can't believe it!!
This was a rough week, I caught the yucky stomach bug that's been going around (it spread through work, my family, and the Kingdom Hall in less than two weeks!). Being sick to your stomach when there's a baby doing a jig in there = not cool. Honestly, Evie was SO active while I was sick, it made the nausea even worse! Thankfully it was just a 24 hour thing, but I was definitely exhausted for a couple days after that.
We got our registries done this week too- it was pretty fun picking out all the cute baby stuff. :) It was also pretty overwhelming too, there are so many things you can buy!! But I tried my best to do research about what we really needed and what brands/types were the right choice for us.
As far as pregnancy symptoms- oh my WORD the heartburn is killing me!! I swear there's a fire-breathing dragon residing in my throat, it's terrible. Also I've had to be careful and keep an eye on my protein intake, because I've been having dizzy spells again. But mostly, I feel pretty good still, which is nice. :)
The next big thing I have to do is the glucose tolerance test, which tests for gestational diabetes. I'm a little nervous about this, both because the test is an unpleasant experience (you have to fast, and then drink this gross sugary drink, and then wait an hour and get a blood test- yippee!) and because I'm nervous about actually having it. Of course I have no reason to think I'd have GD, but it is serious so I just really don't want to have it. I'll be taking this test at some point at the end of January- I've been procrastinating on making the appointment!
Hope everyone's having a great first week of 2011!!
