It's been a year...

It's been a whole year since I've posted here- guess it's true what they say about second kids huh? ;) Well, I'd like to pick up blogging here again, so I'm going to give it a shot. I have Maggie's newborn photos, and family pics, and some other things to share, but for now I'm going to post our summer, since I just took those photos off of the camera. :)

Here is my teeny tiny Maggie!! These pics are from May 2015, so she was about 3 months old.

In July 2015, Beth came for a visit and we went to Niagara Falls- Maggie's first trip! She's 5 months old here, such a difference in two months!

Evie the Sass Queen, she cracks me up ;)

In August some friends of ours had a fun summer party- complete with face painting, corn hole, and a huge tire filled with corn to play in! The kids had a blast :)

I'll share some more photos soon! Also I'm attempting a 365 blog for Maggie this year, you can follow along and see how long I last here ;) http://magnoliajune365.blogspot.com/

Maternity Photos

Kelsey Watroba did our maternity photos and oh my goodness I couldn't be happier with how they turned out. They are SO beautiful and natural and truly capture the joy that our family feels as we welcome Maggie. We had so much fun while taking these photos, and I can't wait for Kelsey to come and take newborn photos once Maggie arrives!!
Here are some of my favorites, but you're more than welcome to check out the whole gallery. Go here: kelseygenephotography.com/gallery/roy-maternity and the password is BabyRoy115.

Summer Party

When I was about 4 years old, my parents had a summer party in the wintertime for my sister and I and our friends. I have fond memories of that party, it was a really cute idea. Well, I really wanted to throw something like that for Evie this year, so on New Years Day we had a summer party!
The kids had fun decorating ice cream cone cupcakes, playing with "sand" (cloud dough), and just playing with each other. I hope Evie has some good memories from this party as well!

31 Weeks

31 weeks means 8 weeks to go! :) I'm getting so excited to meet Maggie, we can't wait for her arrival! Evie has been SO lovey towards her lately, she is always hugging my belly and telling Maggie she loves her and can't wait to play with her. She talks to Maggie constantly, almost always calling her "Baby Sister". She's going to be the sweetest big sister, I can't wait to see how she is once Maggie is here.
Our maternity pictures are next weekend, hopefully they come out nice!! I will definitely share them here- keep your fingers crossed for a little bit of snow this week so that we can take some nice outdoor photos in the snow! ;)
I have another doctor appointment tomorrow, just to check on growth and whatnot, but I think I'm still on track. Maggie is still very active so I know she's doing well in there. :) No news on whether I passed my GD test, I'll ask tomorrow but I'm hoping since they didn't call me that means I passed? Here's hoping!

30 Weeks

30 WEEKS!!!! I can't believe it, time is flying by now, we've only got 9 weeks to go! Now that I'm fully over that horrible cold, I'm feeling pretty good. My body is getting tired, my hips hurt and all this extra weight in the front is hurting my back and under my belly- but really I can't complain too much. I'm surprised that I'm feeling as good as I am, so it's all okay! :)
Not much else to report, I'm going to start getting my hospital bag stuff together this week. The nursery will be done soon, and we'll be pulling out the rest of the baby gear over the next month.  I'm getting so excited to meet baby Maggie!!

29 Weeks

Just squeaking this in there before I'm 30 weeks tomorrow. ;) Evie and I are finally recovered from the evil colds we had- I felt like we were sick forever!! But aside from stuffy noses, we're feeling like ourselves again. Evie wanted to do ballet this week instead of hold the chalkboard so, you all get a lovely pose this week.
I am still feeling pretty good pregnancy-wise, sore in my hips and lower back but that's to be expected with carrying around this much extra weight in the front. My energy levels are alright, better now that I'm not sick anymore obviously. I'm going to do my gestational diabetes test tomorrow, so fingers crossed that comes back negative and I don't have to do the three hour!! Maggie is very active (Eric says she's "fiesty") and reminds me that's there quite a bit, which I like. :) She's head down now, and most likely will stay that way until my c-section. She's running out of room to do a full flip in there!
I'm hopefully going to finish up the nursery next week, so I'll post pictures soon!

28 Weeks

I missed a week again- sorry!! I blame jet lag and the mountainous pile of laundry it took me all week to get through after vacation. But we're at 28 weeks now and all is well. :) I had an ultrasound this past Monday and an OB appt on Tuesday, baby girl is measuring right on track, heartrate looks good, and everything is as it should be. My blood pressure has been great so far, which I'm really thankful for because that was a concern with Evie. And my weight gain is better this time around too, so overall I'm feeling pretty good!
I am sore of course, expecially my hips, and it's started to affect my sleep at night which stinks. And I have wicked heartburn this time, pretty much no matter what I eat. But all in all, things are good. Now that we're back from vacation, I'm gearing up to start decorating the nursery and getting things ready in there. We're doing maternity pictures the first week of January and I'd really like to have the nursery done by then so we can take pics in there! We'll see if that actually happens. ;)
And here's a 3D pic from the sonogram on Monday- this was my first experience with a 3D sono and it was very cool!! Maggie wasn't super cooperative, she was moving a lot and wouldn't move her hand away from her face completely. But this one came out pretty cute, you can see her little mouth and nose really clear. Eric says she has Evie's nose. We can't wait to meet her!!

California 2014

So here's the story of our family trip to California in November 2014. As I mentioned, Winter Storm Knife caused us to almost not make it on this trip, we ended up having to reschedule our flight for two days later than planned because we literally could not get to the airport from our house. Thankfully Southwest is really good about moving flights around when bad weather is involved, so we were scheduled to fly out Saturday morning at 8:30.
We get all settled on our plane, ready to go, calm as can be- and then the plane won't start. The pilot tells us the engines are too cold, so we're going to wait for maintenance to bring heaters to get them going. Almost half an hour goes by, Evie asks 17 times when we're going to leave, and then they tell us it's going to be another hour before maintenance can come and they're taking us off the plane. AND, we had a really short layover in Chicago so this means we're going to miss our connecting flight to LA. So, Southwest gives us vouchers (yay!) and rebooks our flights again- fly to Baltimore, 4 hour layover (boo!), then fly to Phoenix (double boo!), THEN fly to LA. Instead of arriving at 1:20 in the afternoon, we don't get in until like 9. Or something like that, we were so tired I don't even remember. Nothing like taking what was supposed to be 7 hours of travel and turning it into 17 HOURS.

In case anyone is wondering how we kept Evie relatively happy for an entire day of travel- she played games and watched movies on the Kindle, played with her magic clip dolls, was really into these foam puzzle and peg board things I got on Amazon, and colored in a Frozen magic ink coloring book. I brought other things too, but those are the things that held her interest the longest. She did SO great considering the horribly long day- halfway through the flight to Phoenix she was tired and cranky and done, so she cried for about five minutes while I rocked her, then fell asleep for two hours. After that she was back to her happy self for the rest of the trip.
So, our plan was to do Disneyland Sunday- yay!!! We had a fun time, but I think it would have been a lot more fun if we hadn't just had the travel day from hell (oh yea, and the snow storm from hell the entire week before that). We were all tired, and it was hard on Evie especially because she hadn't gotten enough sleep. I had made her an appointment at the Bibbity Bobbity Boutique to get her hair and makeup done like a princess, we talked about it for weeks and she seemed SO excited- and then they started and she wanted none of it. I felt horrible, she was nervous and uncomfortable and fighting back tears and it broke my heart. The girl got only partway through when we had to stop because Evie just couldn't do it. Oh well- such is life with kids right? ;) She is in love with the Cinderella backpack that came with the package I bought, and they gave us all of the makeup and hair stuff to take home.
Then we did rides and ate delicious food and Evie slept for 2 and a half hours in the stroller that night- even through the crazy loud Fantasmic laser light show! She LOVED meeting the princesses so much, I think that was her favorite part. We also watched the Beauty and the Beast show twice, she loved that as well. She chose an Elsa Magic Clip doll to add to her collection and a Barbie-sized Anna doll as her souvenirs- so funny that she ended up with two Frozen things when she rarely watches the movie anymore!

The rest of our trip we spent relaxing- and eating. ;) Grandma treats us well when it comes to meals and she cooked a ton while we were there. We went to the beach two days in a row, Eric and I went to the movies (Mockingjay, woohoo!), Eric and Rudy went to the LA Car Show... it was a fun visit. And thankfully the trip home was uneventful!!

Thank you to Beth and Rudy for letting us stay and being wonderful hosts, and for playing so much with Evie and making her the happiest girl ever with a day at Disney! She misses Wilson the dog already. ;)
