Evelyn Clara: 2 months old

Today Evie is two months old. She is growing so fast everyday I feel like I can barely keep up! It is amazing how quickly babies change at this stage. In the last month, Evie has learned to smile, laugh, roll from her belly to her back, and so much more. She interacts with us more and more every day, smiling and cooing when we talk to her. She is a friendly baby, smiling for most everyone and when she's happy she'll let anyone hold her.
Evie is still crazy strong for her age, the pediatrician told us that she's at the level of a four month old with her head control and leg and arm strength. Eric says we need to enter her in some kind of "Strong Baby" contest. :) At her two month doctor visit this past week, she weighed in at 11 lbs 9.6 oz and 22.25 inches. This puts her in 50th percentile for weight and 60th for height, so nothing too crazy. She handled her shots well (it was AWFUL to see her in pain like that!!), she calmed quickly and displayed no adverse effects from them.
We are loving our time with our Eviebean, she is so much fun!!

Good Morning Evie!

Every morning after her 5 am feeding, I let Evie go back to sleep on the Boppy instead of moving her back to the moses basket next to the bed. So, when I open at my eyes again a couple hours later, I see this....

What a sweet little face to wake up to! Even when we've had a bad night (like last night, poor girl had her shots yesterday so she was fussy and woke up for an extra feeding), all of the frustration and exhaustion from the night before melts away when I see this little girl's face. :) She starts to stir- a little kick, a stretch of the arm, and soon she's awake.

"Ma, get that camera out of my face, I just woke up!!"

"Is it time to wake up? Well alright then."

She's always so sweet in the mornings, smiling and cooing and making cute faces. I sing songs or make silly faces and we enjoy our morning time together. This morning I was so distracted by thinking about how wonderful this time is and how it won't be like this forever and all that.... and then Evie brought me back to the here and now.
She pooped on my leg. And the sheets. Sweet! That's what I get for being all sentimental in the middle of a diaper change and not putting it on fast enough. ;) Good morning!

New baby friends

We had a little BBQ at our home Sunday and we got all of the baby girls together! Well, not together in a photo. One of them was either eating, crying, or sleeping at all times so we never did get all four of them in one photo, but the girls did get to check each other out and look generally adorable. ;) In the first photo is Evie with Mirah, who's almost four months old, and Quinn who is about two weeks older than Evie. Quinn's mommy Shaunna and I had the same due date! In the bottom photo is Evie with Ruby, who is just over a month old. I am so excited for Evie to grow up with so many other kids so close in age to her. It'll be great for them to have so many friends!

Baby(wearing) Daddy

Babywearing success!! we've been working on getting Evie to be happy in the Baby Bjorn and/or Moby wrap, and she wasn't having it. But last night Eric walked her around the house and she was happy- and then she slept! :) He's a good daddy.
He's so proud of her and loves to show her off. He's been so great helping when he gets home from work, and lately he's been telling me I need "mommy time" and letting me do whatever I want for an hour or so for a break. It's really sweet that he realizes that I do need a little break- especially on days where missy wants to be held a lot. But she's so sweet I can't stay mad. ;)

All these photos make me realize I need to make sure Eric's taking photos of Evie and I. I have a couple family shots... but really I've been avoiding having my picture taken because of self-conscious body issues. But I need to get over it- I know I'll regret not having photos of the two of us. So that's my next mission!! :)

Evie's Tricks

So maybe I'm a little biased, but I think Evie's pretty advanced for her age. ;) She's got strong muscles, that's for sure! This weekend we tried the Bumbo seat for the first time, which it's a bit early for, but since she has such great head control I thought we'd see how she does. She did great! Sat right up and looked at us like "What's this thing?" She didn't last long in there, but we'll keep practicing and maybe she'll like it enough for us to bring it to the convention.

Another trick we discovered this weekend is Evie's "walking" abilities. Every baby has that reflex built in where you hold them upright on a flat surface and their feet move up and down. Well Evie actually puts her feet one in front of the other and propels herself forward!! I swear, this child wants to be mobile asap. I got a (dark- sorry!) video of her walking across Eric's stomach last night while he supports her- she does it on the floor too but I didn't record that.

Also, Evie rolled over from stomach to back! Normally I would say at this age it was an accident... but she didn't seem startled by it at all, and I put her back on her stomach and she did it two more times afterwards. It seems like she did it on purpose! She really likes being on her side, so she's always going from back to side, but this was a full 180. I know stomach to back is the "easier" of the rolls, but I'm excited nonetheless. Of course I didn't have the camera then, so I'll work on capturing a roll in the next couple days. :) She's so fun to watch!!

Full Photoshoot

Just wanted to share the full set of photos from Evie's newborn photo session. I love them, they turned out so fantastic. :) I'm having a really hard time choosing which prints to get for the house, but I have to say I think my favorites are the ones with the yellow crocheted headband. I made it!!

Evelyn Clara: 1 month old

Oh my word- I definitely teared up a little taking this photo. I can't believe it's been a month already!!! She's growing up too fast, especially because she's such an over-achiever and thinks she's a big kid already. Seriously, this baby has been holding her head up consistently since day one, and her little legs are so strong she wants to be standing all the time when we hold her. At her one month check-up today, the doctor had her on her belly, and she actually got up on her elbows and knees and was trying to scooch across the table!! The doctor said she wouldn't have believed it if she hadn't seen it with her own eyes- this baby is strong. :)
In other Evie news, Eric and I are pretty sure we're getting real smiles now. I don't know if it's too early or not, but I was convinced on Monday of this week when I had her on the changing table, I tickled her belly, and she looked right at me and smiled. We've gotten her to do it a couple more times by making silly faces or tickling her, so we're pretty sure it's the real deal instead of just gas. Now I just have to capture it on camera! I'm working on it.
Things are starting to get back to normal for us around here- I'm finally starting to do housework and cooking again, although I'm still trying not to overdo it or else my body reminds me that I need to rest. Evie's sleeping is getting better, which means so is mine- although she doesn't usually go down for the night until 11-12, she sleeps for a solid 3-5 hours at a time and goes right back down after night feedings. Also, Evie and I have been out and about, we've visited some friends and family and gone to the park. I'm so excited to be a stay at home mom, I can't wait to be 100% so we can get a routine going for our days and get back out into the world. It's going to be so fun!
